Henderson and Mousasi next in line for Strikeforce Title Shots

That’s the word on the streets.
Strikeforce is again abandoning from the game plan of viable contender’s for it’s titles, and instead will go with their popular stars, over those who most likely deserve a legitimate shot at the organization’s titles.
The San Jose based promotion is continuing to recycle it’s fighters like refried beans on the cafeteria’s lunch special. While both match ups, which will concievably pit Dan Henderson against the newly crowned middleweight champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza–who claimed the vacant title with a win over top contender Tim Kennedy just last month–and Gegard Mousasi, the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, will try to reclaim the title when he faces newly minted champ Rafael “Feijao”.
The news was broke by Josuel Distak, Ronaldo Souza and “Feijao’s” boxing coach, while speaking with Tatame.
“We’re preparing ourselves, setting our strategy for these belt defenses”, said Distak while speaking with the aforementioned Brazilian website/magazine.
“I think that the hardest one is on our way… I believe it’ll be against Dan Henderson or (Gegard) Mousasi. I think both of these fighters might confront us.”
Well, sort of more of an insight or opinion rather then a dead-on news breaker, but it’s something. I’m banging my head against the keyboard right now, thinking why Strikeforce will continue to disrespect it’s titles in such a way.
How can a champion be recognized as a legitimate force if he’s fighting people coming off of losses? It just doesn’t make any sense. The only case that can be made is if said fighter was coming off of a CLOSE loss, i.e: Chael Sonnen versus Anderson Silva–which looks like they will rematch according to Dana White, and Mauricio Rua in his rematch against Lyoto Machida after a hotly debated first fight, where in the second bout he was able to knockout his fellow countryman in the first round.
So what do you guys think? Are the sanctity of these belt’s being tarnished? Henderson would be coming off of a lopsided decision loss to a welterweight, and Mousasi meanwhile is coming off a win–but an uninspired one at that, against UFC veteran Jake O’Brien at DREAM 15 last July, where the Armenian submitted the American wrestler with a guillotine choke, just 31 seconds into the first round. Not much of a fight.
Do Henderson and Mousasi deserve their title shots? Or how should get the next crack at the belts? Mike Kyle has the only definitive win over “Feijao” and is coming off a win in his last bout inside Strikeforce, which improved an overall 4-fight win streak (with a no-contest muttled in there). You be the judge. Let your opinions known below.
