The UFC has released the phantom cam footage for UFC Fight Night 27: Condit Vs Kampmann II, and the reason why it was peculiar to me was because of the controversial ending in the curtain puller. The bout between Roger Bowling and Abel Trujillo ended when at the end of the third round Trujillo landed an illegal knee to the head of Bowling. Bowling was unable to continue, and it seemed like everyone but UFC President Dana White thought it was illegal. White said that he saw the UFC Phantom Cam footage, and the knee struck the body not the head.
I said on a few social media sites it REALLY looked like an illegal knee to the head of Bowling, but I wanted to see the footage he saw. FOX Sports has released the Phantom Cam footage, and boy is my face red. White is absolutely right, and the proof is below at about 10-12 seconds in. I know I won’t be the first to admit they were wrong on this one, but now I hope someone protests this result as that tape clearly shows a TKO win for Abel.
As always, there is some excellent footage of the rest of the whole card. The ultra-violence unleashed on martin Kampmann at the hands of Carlos Condit is worth a second look in slow motion alone.
