Thiago Silva Shatters Keith Jardine's Glass Jaw At UFC 102
By: Chad Edward Posted On: August 30, 2009 at 1:32amBrazilian light heavyweight Thiago Silva (15-1) knocked out “Dean of Mean” Keith Jardine (14-6-1) in 1:35 at UFC 102 in Portland Saturday night.
Jardine leaned into a left uppercut and Silva countered with a left hook that floored the American. Silva followed-up with a straight left to Jardine’s chin while hovering inside his open guard and Jardine’s legs flattend out on the mat.
“I was just throwing the punch to make sure he don’t get up again,” explained Silva post-fight.
Referee Herb Dean stepped in to end the fight as a confused Jardine slowly raised his head off the mat and questioned the stoppage.
After the fight, Silva addressed his future: “Whatever the UFC wants to do, whoever they want me to fight, I will be ready. I’m here to fight.”
