The new contract is for six fights and 28 months. Couture plans to retire in the UFC.
Couture resolved a very public legal battle over his previous UFC contract one year ago.
Before fighting Nog’ Saturday night, Couture had publicly expressed interest in fighting Fighters.com’s Light Heavyweight Champion “Dragon” Ryoto Machida (15-0) and didn’t rule out returning to 205 pounds after UFC 102.
UFC President Dana White told the post-UFC 102 press conference that it was up to Couture which weight division he would fight next in.
