Have you ever wondered what it was like to be an up-and-coming UFC fighter without the need to work your tail off in the gym or get punched in the face? If so, you’re in luck, as UFC lightweight Al Iaquinta decided to open up about the experience of preparing for his first Octagon appearance since making it to the final on TUF 15.
Iaquinta spoke to Fightline about touching down in Milwaukee for his UFC 164 match-up with Ryan Couture, saying he’s already had a chance to get some workouts in including time at Duke Roufus’ famed gym in the fight-friendly city…
“I got to Milwaukee on Tuesday. As I arrived to the airport, I was picked up by UFC staff, driven to the hotel and brought up to a room designated for all the paperwork and other items needed to be completed. Once all that was done, I had my weight checked to make sure I was somewhat close to my fight weight.
“I worked out in a rather large meeting room that they have matted. There are two workout rooms: one for the red corner and one for the blue corner come fight night. They do this so we won’t be working out in the same room with our opponents.”
“They have everything down to a science at this point.”
Fans can catch Iaquinta-Couture on the preliminary portion of Saturday night’s show bound for Facebook.
