UFC Featherweight Chad Mendes is looking for his fourth straight first round win when he steps into the octagon against Clay Guida at UFC 164. After Guida dropped two straight fights at lightweight, he dropped down to featherweight to face Hatsu Hioki and picked up his first win in over a year. Pundits and fans alike have made criticisms of the way Guida fightsover his last few bouts, and you can now add Mendes to that list as well. In a recent interview Mendes discussed what he thinks of Guida’s style of late.
Mendes told Bleacher Report:
“There are a lot of fans that have been upset at how he’s fought lately. He does have a lot of footwork and a lot of in-and-out movement, and he does not bang like he used to, just sit in the pocket and throw, and that’s always exciting for the fans. I think his last few fights, I think he’s fighting to just not lose instead of fighting to win, and that’s tough to watch sometimes.”
