Former Strikeforce bantamweight champ Sarah Kaufman won’t be taking much time off after fighting Ronda Rousey earlier this month and falling in 54 seconds by way of submission. The 15-2 Canadian, undoubtedly anxious to get back in the cage after the sub-minute stoppage, has agreed to face Kaitlin Young on October 6 at Invicta FC 3.
The match-up was confirmed through an official press release from the organization.
“Kaitlin is a very strong 135 pounder. She’s got a lot of height and is quite technical in many areas,” said Kaufman of her adversary. “I’m excited to get in there against her, especially in the wake of the worst performance of my career. I’m hungry to get back in there and prove why I’m ranked at the top of my weight class.”
The 26-year old Kaufman had won three straight before falling to Rousey and owns past victories over Roxanne Modafferi, Liz Carmouche, and Miesha Tate. Young, on the other hand, is coming off a loss but has stopped six of the seven opponents she’s beaten by way of TKO.
Invicta FC 3 is headlined by a title-fight between 105ers Jessica Penne-Naho Sugiyama and, as might be expected, also features a number of the sport’s top female competitors including Shayna Baszler, Tara LaRosa, and Julia Budd.
