Official: Fedor Emelianenko Versus Brett Rogers At Strikeforce
By: Fighters.com Staff Posted On: August 26, 2009 at 5:01pmFighters.com’s Heavyweight Champion “Last Emperor” Fedor Emelianenko (29-1) and fourth-ranked “Grim” Brett Rogers (8-0) will fight at a yet-to-be-determined Strikeforce event, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker announced in New York City Wednesday.
Rogers knocked out tenth-ranked “Pitbull” Andrei Arlovski (14-7) in 22 seconds in Strikeforce 6 June in St. Louis after Emelianenko knocked out Arlovski at Affliction 24 January.
Emelianenko called out Rogers 23 July after Emelianenko’s intended opponent, ninth-ranked heavyweight “Babyface Assassin” Josh Barnett (20-5), was denied a license to fight at Affliction Trilogy by the California State Athletic Commission after testing positive for 2a-methyl-5a-androstan-3a-ol-17-one, an anabolic steroid.
Barnett denies using steroids.
At the time, Rogers’s manager, Mike Reilly, told Fighters.com, “It is an honor to be called out by the big dog.”
The Strikeforce heavyweight title is held by “Demolition Man” Alistair Overeem (27-10).

New Yorkers, help make our state the 37th state to legalize MMA!
On Saturday July 11, thousands of New York MMA fans watched some great UFC®100 fights at Radio City Music Hall. Unfortunately, until the New York State legislature overturns the ban on MMA, that’s as close as we’ll get to a live MMA bout in NY State these days.
But you can help change that. Please join the thousands of New Yorkers at MMAFacts.com who have called, written or emailed their State Senators and Assembly members and asked them to bring MMA to NY.
Please follow the link below to email your representatives and urge them to vote on bill # A2009/S2165, which would legalize MMA in New York State.
