One of the premier pairings scheduled for the since-cancelled UFC 151 lineup has found a new home, as the UFC revealed co-headlining welterweights Jake Ellenberger and Jay Hieron will now fight at UFC on FX 5. The two talented scrappers have tussled before with Hieron earning a 2006 decision win over “The Juggernaut”.
The 27-6 Ellenberger has been itching for a rematch with Hieron and will finally get it when they meet in the Octagon. Ellenberger is coming off a loss to Hieron’s friend/teammate Martin Kampmann but had won six straight entering the bout including triumphs over the likes of Jake Shields and Diego Sanchez.
Meanwhile, Hieron has been bouncing around promotions over the past few years but been successful nonetheless. He holds an overall record of 23-5 and won eleven of his last twelve tussles.
UFC on FX 5 is headlined by a heavyweight tilt between Antonio Silva-Travis Browne.
