Mike Pyle has quietly put together one of the more impressive streaks inside the Octagon.

Other than losses to top contenders Matt Brown and Rory MacDonald, Pyle has won eight fights since 2010 – including five finishes.

He’ll look for another Saturday night when he takes on Jordan Mein in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 49. Pyle was originally scheduled to face Demian Maia, but an injury forced the change and that was fine by Pyle.

“I was already training for a fight,” he said, during a recent appearance on UFC Tonight. “The bottom line was I was going to be in a fight Saturday night regardless of who it was (against).

“(Mein’s) a great striker and dangerous on his feet. I have to be very alert and keep my eyes open and my eyes on the prize.”

The 38-year-old believes he has improved since the 2013 loss to Brown that snapped a four-fight win streak, as evidence in his convincing performance vs. TJ Waldburger this past February.

“You always learn by your mistakes. I’m always trying to improve and better myself,” he said. “The people surrounding me, my coaches and teammates, have things to say and I listen. I absorb everything I can. I’m always working on flaws and trying to put it together on fight night.”

FightLine will have complete coverage of the card Saturday night, including live play-by-play and all your post-fight news and information.
