As reported on Fighters.com, UFC Lightweight Reza Madadi was sentenced to a year and a half in jail this week in Stockholm, Sweden for his role in a luxury handbag smash and grab robbery. When UFC President Dana White was told about it a few weeks ago he said he was going to let the whole thing play out before the UFC made a decision on his future, but they had suspended his contract. Last night after UFC Fight Night: Shogun Vs Sonnen, White was informed in the media scrum that Madadi was convicted and sent to jail. As you can imagine, White didn’t like hearing the news of the sentence, and said that Madadi has been released from the promotion.
White told the media:
It’s a safe assumption that if he stole a bunch of hand bags, and was convicted of it, that he will be cut.
