Shawn Jordan was facing the pressure of a possible third-straight loss Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 47.

And after two rounds of action against Jack May, it was a very strong possibility that the former LSU football player would be defeated again.

But Jordan rose to the occasion, taking May down and landing several shots to earn the finish. Jordan is now 3-2 in his last five and 16-6 overall.

“This feels awesome,” he said. “This is my life, my career. I always want to win. I’ve been dealing with a lot of adversity, so this feels good and I’m ready to move on.”

Jordan had suffered back-to-back first round knockouts in his last two fights to Matt Mitrione and Gabriel Gonzaga. Those snapped a two-bout win streak that featured finishes of Pat Barry and Mike Russow.

“He is a tough guy, long, hits hard,” Jordan said of May. “His height made it a little easier to grab (and get the takedown).”

May falls to 7-2 in his career, including two consecutive losses inside the Octagon.
