As reported on Fighters.com, UFC Lightweight Reza Madadi was arrested and was standing trial in Stockholm, Sweden for being involved in a smash and grab robbery of luxury handbags. Although Madadi maintained his innocence and said they had no evidence against him, they did in fact have more than enough evidence to try, and now convict him for being a part of the crime. Madadi was sentenced to 18 months in jail for aggravated robbery.
The UFC has made no comment about the matter, and historically the UFC has waited until these matters play out. His release seems to be all but a formality at this point. Madadi last fought at UFC On FUEL in Sweden where he submitted Michael Johnson via D’arce choke in the third round.
