According to multiple reports, UFC Light Heavyweights Matt Hamill and Thiago Silva have agreed to fight at UFC Fight Night 29. Hamill returned to the octagon at UFC 152 after two losses and lengthy stint outside of the cage, and defeated Roger Hollett by decision. Silva last fought at UFC On FUEL 10 where he defeated Rafael Cavalcante by knockout at the end of the first round.
UFC Fight Night 29: Maia Vs Shields takes place October 9 in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The main event will be a welterweight bout between Demian Maia and Jake Shields. In the co main event, welterweights Erick Silva will take on Dong Hyun Kim.
Silva told MMAFighting:
“I didn’t get the contract yet, but it looks like yes, I’m fighting (Hamill) in Brazil. They offered me that fight and I accepted it, so I’m just waiting for the contract.”
“He wasn’t one of the guys I wanted to fight. I was expecting for a top 10 opponent, but they all are scheduled to fight so that was the option they gave me. I don’t choose opponents, I’m here to fight and I want to fight the best. I’m going straight forward. That’s my style and it will never change.”
