The undercard of UFC 101 in Philadelphia Saturday saw two split decision upsets, one in the middleweight division and one at 170.
“Legionarius” Alessio Sakara (14 -7) upset recent UFC middleweight title challenger Thales Leites (14-3) in a three-round split decision, rendering Leites with consecutive disappointing losses.
And, “Doomsday” John Howard (12-3) won a three-round split decision over “Barn Cat” Tamdan McCrory (11-3), Howard’s second SD in the Octagon with no losses.
Matt Riddle (3-0) won a three-round UD over his The Ultimate Fighter 7 housemate Dan Cramer (3-1).
Lightweight George Sotiropoulos (10-2) tapped George Roop (9-3) in a Kimura at 1:59 of round two.
The cageside medic waved the white flag at 3:37 of round three to end the first fight of the night in favor of welterweight “Ox” Jesse Lennox (14-1) by TKO over “Indio” Danillo Villefort (7-3) due to a cut.
Aaron Riley (27-11-1) won a grueling unanimous decision over “Sugar” Shane Nelson (11-3) by scores of 30-27 three times.
