Going into UFC on FOX 8 most folks felt flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson would get one of the stiffest tests of his career in 29-year old contender John Moraga, an accomplished amateur wrestler with power and an aggressive approach. However, when the dust settled, not only did “Mighty Mouse” emerge victorious but did so in relatively dominant fashion and even picked up a Submission of the Night bonus to boot.
Johnson discussed the bout with Fuel TV during the network’s post-event coverage, showing supreme confidence in his abilities while assuring fans he was ready for any challenge thrown his way…
“It’s not a wrestling match, it’s a mixed martial arts fight and I try to mix things up and keep people guessing.”
“This is my job. I’ve had big fights my whole career. I’m always fighting the best in the world. I’m training with the best coaches in the world. For me this is work and I’m providing for my family.”
“For me I’m all about taking on challenges. I think there’d be some good super fights with different weight classes in the lighter divisions.”
