Vitor Belfort confirmed for bout with Alan Belcher at UFC 153

UFC middleweight Alan Belcher is poised to enter the lion’s den on October 13 when he faces Vitor Belfort at UFC 153 in the legend’s proverbial backyard of Rio de Janeiro. The bout had been rumored in recent days after Belcher revealed his interest in fighting Belfort and stating he was heading south for his next match-up.

Things were made official this week by UFC brass.

The 21-9 Belfort has won both of his fights since stumbling against Anderson Silva with the most recent effort involving a submission of Anthony Johnson in January. Their tilt was also held in Brazil.

Meanwhile, Belcher is 18-6 and on a four-fight winning streak. He was last seen scoring a TKO stoppage against Rousimar Palhares and has also found past success against the likes of Jason MacDonald, Ed Herman, and Patrick Cote.

Belcher: “I don’t plan on losing anytime soon.”

UFC 153 is set to be headlined by Jose Aldo putting his featherweight title up for grabs against Erik Koch and also features Quinton Jackson taking on rising Brazilian star Glover Teixeira.
