Leading up to a bout with B.J. Penn, UFC welterweight Rory MacDonald was extremely vocal about his plan to punish “The Prodigy”. However, MacDonald has been relatively quiet over the past few months despite UFC on FOX 8 opponent Jake Ellenberger’s best attempts to draw some fire out of the Canadian competitor.
MacDonald elaborated on his cool, collected demeanor in a recent interview with UFC.com where he explained his performance on Saturday night will do all the talking for him.
“I’ll have something up my sleeve. I do believe I’ll be better in all areas. I’ll get in the cage, start fighting and my body will do the rest. I’ll know what to do when I get in there. I plan on just taking the fight wherever it goes and looking for the finish anywhere.
“Fighters talk, but my reaction to that doesn’t have to be dramatic. It is what it is. It’s just words. I think he’s trying to get me fired up or emotional or something. It isn’t working.”
