It was originally announced that the coaches fight from this season The Ultimate Fighter would be headlining UFC 168, but it turns out UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate will take a step back and fight in the co-main event. As reported on Fighters.com, Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman will be taking the main event responsibilities, but Rousey see’s it as a benefit. Rousey had to do a tremendous amount of media for her last fight, and now the spotlight will likely be on the main event fighters who are getting ready to fight in the biggest rematch in the companies history.
Rousey told MMAJunkie:
“I’m super stoked about being on the same card as Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman. It’ll alleviate some of the promotional stress and pressure because there’ll be more of us working to promote this big card.”
“Their fight may very well be the fight of the year, maybe even in the history of the company, and I think it’s an honor to be a part of that.”
