Since a contract between the UFC and Roy Nelson has yet to materialize after Nelson’s lost to Stipe Miocic, the final fight on his contract, many fans assumed that Nelson wasn’t coming back to the UFC. A recent comment from UFC President Dana White says different. According to reports, White said that he is currently trying to make a deal with Nelson, and that if it can be organized in time he wants him to fight Daniel Cormier. Cormier and Nelson have recently gone back and forth on twitter prompting one another to take the fight.
White told Yahoo!
“If he re-signs Nelson in time, he plans to pair him with Daniel Cormier at UFC 166 on the Velasquez-dos Santos III undercard.”
UFC 166: Velasquez Vs Dos Santos III takes place on October 19 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The main event will be the trilogy fight between current Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez and Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos.
