According to those close to Cris Cyborg, the reigning Invicta FC featherweight champion will make her bantamweight debut this December.

In a report by MMAjunkie.com, both Cyborg’s manager and Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp stated that the fighter is expected to compete to close out 2014 at 135 pounds.

For Cyborg (12-1) to sign and fight for the UFC, she’ll need to make the weight limit, as the promotion only has two currently female divisions – bantamweight and the 115-pound strawweight.

Invicta FC debuts on UFC Fight Pass in September, with the December event also expected to stream online via the service.

Cyborg won the Invicta FC title last year with a fourth round TKO victory over Marloes Coenen. The 29-year-old won the Strikeforce title in 2009 when she finished Gina Carano in the main event of a CBS-televised card.

Many expected Cyborg to sign with the UFC and become an immediate challenger to Ronda Rousey’s title, but she declared 135 pounds an unsafe weight cut at that time. She was also managed by Tito Ortiz, who has since stepped down from that position.
