Former U.S. Olympic wrestler Daniel Cormier finally got a chance to put the finishing touches on his amateur wrestling career, defeating Chris Pendleton during the UFC Fan Expo over the weekend.

Cormier, a top contender in the UFC’s light heavyweight division, defeated the two-time NCAA champion, 12-5. The two were both graduates of Oklahoma State University.

“I started wrestling 25 years ago,” wrote Cormier on Instagram, along with a photo of his wrestling shoes left on the mat. “And through it all I’ve gained a lot from this sport. I got to travel the world. I got a college education. I met my heroes. I represented our country. (Saturday) I wrestled my very last match.”

Cormier was forced to miss the Olympics after his body shut down while trying to cut weight. He is unbeaten in MMA, but is currently set for surgery to fix an injured knee. He scored 12 of the final 14 points in the match with Pendleton after going down 3-0.
