Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva held on to the title for ten successful defenses before falling to Chris Weidman last night at UFC 162. While Weidman isn’t sure he’ll match Silva’s storied run, the undefeated 29-year old is definitely looking to give it a go.
According to Weidman, he’s down for a rematch with Silva before focusing on a future beyond the Brazilian icon.
In an interview with Fuel TV after his historic finish of Silva, Weidman explained…
“This is my belt now. I’m holding on to this belt as long as I frickin’ can!”
“I told Anderson after the fight, ‘Let’s rematch. You got cocky and let your hands down.’ He said, ‘You deserve it.’ He was very humble, You have a certain respect for a guy after the fight. I love the guy. I feel for him, but I’m happy where I’m at.”
“I think he’s an amazing fighter, and I’d think he’d want a rematch.”
