Heavyweight prospect “Big” Ben Rothwell (29-5) is taking dedicated instruction from Muay Thai champion Duke Roufus in preparation for his 19 July bout versus Fighters.com’s fourth-ranked heavyweight “Pitbull” Andrei Arlovski (12-5) in Anaheim, east of Los Angeles.
“[Roufus] has a way of getting people fired up and his style that he coaches is right up a wrestlers alley,” said WEC featherweight “Li’l Evil” Jens Pulver (22-9-1), who trains at Miletich Fighting Systems in Davenport, Iowa with Rothwell.
Roufus won and defended the International Kickboxing Federation World Superheavyweight Championship in 1998.
Roufus lives and operates the Duke Roufus Martial Arts Academy in Milwaukee, but has been making trips to Davenport to mentor Rothwell.
