It appears former bantamweight champion Miesha Tate has finally healed up enough from her gruesome submission loss to Ronda Rousey to take to the ring again, agreeing to face Julie Kedzie on August 18 at the very event where Rousey will make her inaugural title-defense. Tate’s arm suffered an undisclosed amount of damage to ligaments in her arm after she initially refused to tap to Rousey’s Armbar.
Strikeforce officials confirmed the bout this week.
With her health-related issues seemingly behind her, Tate will look to get back on the winning track and improve upon a 12-3 record featuring eight finishes and success against Zoila Gurgel as well as Marloes Coenen.
Comparably, Kedzie is 16-9 with the bulk of her victories involving the judges’ scorecards. She has been out of action since July 2011 when she had a four-fight winning streak snapped by way of decision.
