UFC Lightweight Melvin Guillard can breathe a big sigh of relief as he has avoided jail time for assault charges he was facing. Guillard learned that he had past warrants for an assault charge and failing to appear in court, and was forced to return to New Mexico to face the charges. While he could have received up to one year in jail, Guillard received two years of supervised probation, court costs, and community service.
Guillard, who is coming off of two losses, is set to face Mac Danzig at UFC On FOX 8: Johnson Vs Moraga. One can be certain that this camp will go more smoothly now that this matter is out of the way.
Sports Illustrated reported:
UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard avoids jail time; sentenced to supervised probation through June 2015, community service and court fees.
