For the second time a tilt between UFC lightweights Joe Lauzon and Terry Etim has been cancelled for health-related reasons. According to this week’s episode of UFC Tonight, Etim suffered some sort of injury while training for the August 5 match-up and will be unable to compete. It is believed the organization is looking for a replacement meaning Lauzon will likely remain on the upcoming card.
Etim holds an overall record of 15-4 but hasn’t fought since being on the wrong end of a highlight-reel knockout in January. Prior to the stumble he’d won five of six including a win over Sam Stout.
The 21-7 Lauzon is a fan-favorite based in part on his finishing prowess. The 28-year old has stopped every opponent he’s beaten with four TKOs and seventeen submissions. However, he too is coming off a loss despite picking up a pair of consecutive wins beforehand.
