UFC light heavyweight Lyoto Machida has been told on two consecutive occasions he’d earned a crack at the divisional title. However, Machida was passed over both times in favor of more marketable match-ups featuring Chael Sonnen and Alexander Gustafsson. While the slight would understandably bother most people, “The Dragon” has kept his cool and has no problem staying active even if it means risking his status as a contender.
The talented Brazilian recently explained his rationale to Sherdog…
“I’m very happy, not disappointed with them. It’s important for me to keep fighting and not wait for somebody. Many times you wait and the fight never happens. With this next victory, I will be the next contender for sure.”
“I have some keys on how to win Jon Jones. I was very close [to] the victory against Jones. Maybe if somebody gives me a rematch, I can get that.”
