UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva is known for being one of MMA’s most respectful individuals, even going so far as to avoid any nastiness with Chael Sonnen despite repeated insults from his rival. However, Silva broke form earlier today on a conference call promoting their headlining tilt at UFC 148 and laid into Sonnen so viciously even UFC President Dana White was caught off-guard.
“I’m going to break his face and every one of his teeth in his mouth,” threatened Silva through translator Ed Soares. “Playtime is over. The joke is over. I’m gonna beat his ass out of the UFC. He’s never gonna want to fight again after I’m done with him.”
“What I’m gonna do inside the Octagon is going to change the image of the sport. I’m gonna make sure every one of his teeth are broken – his arms are broken, his legs are broken,” Silva ranted later in the call, guaranteeing the need for Sonnen to be carried from the ring once the bout had concluded. “I’m gonna make him pay and make him eat everything he said…I’m gonna beat him maybe the way his parents should have beat him to teach him some manners.”
Silva’s chance to deliver the damage he’s aiming for will come in less than two weeks when they meet on July 7. The bout marks a rematch of a 2010 fight seeing Silva emerge as a winner in the fifth round after losing the previous four frames.
