Rousimar Palhares fighting Yushin Okami at UFC 150

A new middleweight match-up has been added to the UFC’s August 11 stop in Denver for UFC 150 after Yushin Okami’s original opponent, Luiz Cane, went down with injury and was forced to pull out of their fight. Filling the vacancy his absence created is slick submission artist Rousimar Palhares who will try to do what no one has done before in tapping out Okami.

The UFC confirmed the news earlier today in addition to revealing a featherweight fight between Max Holloway-Justin Lawrence would also take place on the card. The event is headlined by a title-fight between lightweights Benson Henderson-Frankie Edgar.

Palhares Turns Down Opportunity to Train with Chael Sonnen

Okami holds an overall record of 26-6 including nine TKOs and victories over Nate Marquardt, Mike Swick, and Mark Munoz. He was last seen on the wrong end of a comeback at UFC 144 after Tim Boetsch.

Palhares is also coming off a loss but had won three straight entering the bout. Ten of his fourteen total instances of success have involved some form of submission with many featuring ferocious attacks on his opponents legs.
