It seems Anthony Johnson has finally come to understand what the rest of the MMA world seemed to know already – he’s a light heavyweight. Johnson, who has missed the required mark as a welterweight and middleweight on multiple occasions, has informed Titan FC head Joe Kelly he wants to fight at 205 pounds in his next outing.
Johnson is scheduled to see action in July against a yet-to-be-named opponent at Titan FC 24.
News of the 28-year old’s decision was revealed by Kelly last week during a stop by the set of Bloody Elbow Radio.
Johnson Focused on Future Success, Not Past Regrets
“Rumble” is 11-4 in his career including a win in his Titan FC debut against Dave Branch. However, he came in eight pounds heavy for the fight after having essentially earned his release from the UFC a bout earlier for also hitting the scale while ridiculously over the contracted limit.
Despite his issues with weight Johnson has still shown flashes of brilliance in the past with successful showings against the likes of Charlie Brenneman, Luigi Fioravanti, and Dan Hardy.
In a related note, Kelly will be a guest on tonight’s episode of Rebellion MMA Radio where he is certain to talk about Johnson’s future in the organization.
