Ovince St. Preux showed fans that he is continuing to evolve and improve in MMA, earning a victory over Ryan Jimmo at UFC 174 Saturday night.
The former Tennessee Volunteer standout secured the TKO victory when Jimmo verbally tapped out, saying that he had a broken arm.
“I either broke it with a chicken wing or he caught one of my high kicks,” St. Preux said. “It’s not the first time that’s happened.”
St. Preux (16-5) has won five in a row overall and his first four UFC fights. His four-fight win streak at 205 pounds trails only division champion Jon Jones.
Since turning pro in 2008, OSP has lost to just Gegard Mousasi over his last 14 fights. That includes a handful of submission wins. He stated that he wasn’t sure if Jimmo was trying to bait him in by saying his arm was broken and not just saying “I quit.”
“I was going to try to finish the fight,” he said.
For Jimmo, the loss drops him to 19-4 overall and 3-3 inside the Octagon.
