The UFC’s experiment with delivering live fights every Friday night on the Ultimate Fighter is officially over, as UFC President Dana White has announced the groundbreaking reality series will go back to its original format featuring previously taped pairings and polished storylines built from a season’s worth of footage. TUF 15 was the UFC’s first attempt at using a “real time” approach, though it is believed the style made production particularly difficult.
TUF 16 will debut on FX every Friday night starting in September. The season will feature welterweights, though coaches have not been revealed thus far.
In addition to explaining the aforementioned matters to Yahoo Sports, White also stated he’d been given the option to move TUF back to Wednesdays (or try Tuesdays) if the upcoming run of shows aren’t up to his standards.
