Set for August 2 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the main event will see Chad Mendes look to avenge a previous loss when he faces Jose Aldo for the UFC featherweight title.
Green (22-5) earned three victories last year, defeating Jacob Volkmann, James Krause and Pat Healy. The 27-year-old was scheduled to face Jim Miller in April, but an injury forced him out.
Green has also been dealing with the shocking loss of his brother, who was murdered. He posted on Twitter that the UFC has stepped in and will pay for funeral services.
“Thank u god the UFC has decided to pay for my brothers funeral what a blessing this is definitely my biggest moment of my career,” he wrote. “Lorenzo Ferttita, Dana White u two are great men I’m speechless I was at a car wash when I got the news we all celebrated.”
Trujillo (12-5) was set to meet Myles Jury later this month, but Jury was injured. He was paired up with Frank Trevino, but that fell through, as well. Trujillo is unbeaten in his last three, including finishes over Jamie Varner and Roger Bowling.
Green and Trujillo were originally booked for UFC 169 back in February, but Green was forced to pull out. Varner replaced him and Trujillo earned both “Fight of the Night” and “Knockout of the Night” honors with his win.
