While an official announcement is still forthcoming it looks like Strikeforce bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey is set to put her gold up for grabs against Sarah Kaufman on August 18 in San Diego. Rousey won the belt this past March by submitting Miesha Tate in the opening round of their rumble.
The fight marks the first title-defense for the unbeaten Rousey.
MMAFighting was first to report the date/location, adding confirmation is expected to come from Strikeforce in the next few weeks.
Rousey is a perfect 5-0 since transitioning to MMA from her decorated run as an Olympic-level judoka. All of her wins have involved an Armbar in the first frame.
Interestingly enough, the 15-1 Kaufman’s only career stumble involved an Armbar loss to Marloes Coenen in October 2010. She has won a trio of consecutive fights since the defeat.
