Hector Lombard fighting Tim Boetsch at UFC 149 after Michael Bisping goes down with injury

The revolving door of match-ups at UFC 149 took another turn today after it was announced Michael Bisping had been hurt and would no longer be able to face Tim Boetsch at the event as planned. However, the UFC wasted little time in replacing “The Count”, bringing in former Bellator middleweight champ Hector Lombard to fill the opening.

Lombard was originally set to take on Brian Stann at UFC on FOX 4 before Stann dropped out for health-related reasons.

Though few fighters can claim to match Lombard’s 24-fight unbeaten streak, the 15-4 Boetsch is on an impressive run of his own with three straight wins since making his 185-pound debut including success against Kendall Grove and most recently Yushin Okami.

A Closer Look at Boetsch’s Comeback Against Okami

UFC 149 is scheduled for July 21 and features a headlining title-tilt between featherweight champion Jose Aldo and Erik Koch. Other notable bouts on the show’s lineup include Siyar Bahadurzada-Chris Clements and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira-Cheick Kongo.
