There have been countless critics surfacing since the announcement that UFC light heavyweight Stephan Bonnar was being inducted into the organization’s Hall of Fame alongside Forrest Griffin. Though Bonnar’s role in the historic bout with Griffin at the original Ultimate Fighter Finale can’t be discounted, he was never close to contending for a championship and failed two drug tests for steroid use.
Bonnar was asked to address the controversy in a recent interview with Inside MMA where he, with Griffin at his side, said he didn’t necessarily care about the Hall of Fame nod so much as the opportunities he’d received since showing up on TUF.
“If they want to put me in the Hall of Fame, then like my God, what an honor…I never really expected it. Just being a part of the UFC was cool enough.”
