The UFC seems to be encountering a plague of injuries associated with July as hard-hitting Brazilians Thiago Silva and Thiago Alves have both been removed from scheduled scraps at UFC 149 due to undisclosed injuries. Silva was set to face Mauricio Rua with Alves taking on Siyar Bahadurzada respectively.
No official word has surfaced on how the UFC will handle their withdrawals but it is expected Rua and Bahadurzada will both receive replacement opponents. Glover Teixeira has already been rumored for the vacancy opposite “Shogun”.
UFC 149 is headlined by Jose Aldo putting his featherweight gold up for grabs against Roufusport product Erik Koch. Other bouts on the July 21 card include Cheick Kongo-Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Michael Bisping-Tim Boetsch.
