Entering last night’s fight between Martin Kampmann and Jake Ellenberger at the Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale there was little reason to believe the bout would end by strikes unless “The Juggernaut” was on the winning side of things. However, when the smoke cleared it was in fact Kampmann standing tall with Ellenberger left in a heap on the canvas.
Kampmann’s second round stoppage of Ellenberger was named Knockout of the Night and scored him an extra $40,000.
“The Hitman” was not the only fighter to earn a KotN award at the event with TUF 15 quarterfinalist Justin Lawrence getting a $40,000 nod as well for his incredible head-kick knockout of John Cofer. Were that not enough, Lawrence also netted Fight of the Night status and another $40k. Cofer also received the cash for his role in the rumble.
Were winning TUF 15 not enough for Michael Chiesa, the likeable grappler received a significant layer of icing on the cake when an extra $40,000 for his Submission of the Night finish of fellow finalist Al Iaquinta. Chiesa improved his overall record to 8-0 with the win, his sixth by way of submission.
