Jon Jones pleads guilty, details surface in DUI arrest

UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones likely avoided jail time this week by pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence relating to a one-car crash the 24-year old was involved in earlier this month. By agreeing to do so the authorities dropped two other misdemeanors associated with the accident.

As punishment Jones will have to undergo screening for alcohol dependency, put a device on his car requiring an alcohol-free breath to start it, and pay up to $1,000 as a fine.

Recently more details have emerged in the accident thanks to a report from Sports Illustrated including Jones’ demeanor at the scene and the fact “Bones”, who is engaged to the mother of his children, was accompanied by a pair of 25-year old females. Both women received minor injuries in the wreck after the Bentley’s airbags deployed. No details of their relationship to Jones were mentioned.

Jones Apologizes for DUI Situation

The police report states Jones refused breathalyzer and field sobriety tests but reeked of booze and exhibited “slurred speech and glassy bloodshot eyes.”

Jones will return to court on June 19 to receive final sentencing on the matter.
