UFC flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson is 3-0-1 since dropping down to 125 pounds. However, as good as he’s looked at times, “Mighty Mouse” has yet to finish an opponent in the division and came close to losing his belt on two occasions.
The 26-year old Johnson addressed the issue in a recent interview with MMAWeekly, explaining his efforts had all been closely contested based on the strength of the 125ers currently calling the UFC home including UFC on FOX 8 opponent John Moraga.
“I almost finished John Dodson and if there was more time I would have finished him, but Dodson is no slouch, he’s never been finished in his entire career. When you’re fighting the best guys in the world, it takes a little more effort to finish these fights. Nobody sucks in this division. There are 12 guys on the roster and they are all badasses.”
“Moraga’s a great opponent and I’m looking forward to it. Me and Matt (Hume) have already started to dissect him. “I’m training my butt off and we’ll see what happens, but we are working pretty hard to make sure we come home with the victory in this one. We’re just ready to get out there and go to work.”
