The wait is over, as UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre (24-2) has gone on record as saying he plans to fight Johny Hendricks (15-1) in his next outing rather than waiting for fellow pound-for-pound ace Anderson Silva. According to UFC President Dana White, St-Pierre is so convinced Silva will lose to Chris Weidman at UFC 162 he doesn’t see the point in prolonging the decision.
“”He 100 percent, absolutely, positively knows that Weidman is going to beat Anderson Silva. No doubt in his mind that the fight with [Silva] won’t happen because Weidman is going to win. There’s no ‘what if’ for him. He absolutely, positively knows [Weidman] is going to win that fight,” said White to MMAJunkie.
No date/location was linked to GSP’s showdown with Hendricks other than UFC 165 in Toronto being ruled out.
