It is now exactly one week before Mark Hunt is supposed to step into the octagon for a number one contender match with former UFC Heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos at UFC 160: Velasquez Vs Silva II, but Hunt is still 8 thousand miles away in Australia dealing with visa issues. Although the UFC is saying they are confident that Hunt will still be able to fight, they have also been saying “Hunt should be cleared by tomorrow” for a week now. The Nevada State Athletic Commission held a hearing on Friday which granted Hunt a license to fight (despite not being in Las Vegas), but they have also given a license to Roy Nelson at the off chance Hunt can’t make it.
Hunt told MMAFighting:
“I’m still waiting.I think I should be getting one on Monday. Hopefully Monday.”
