Jeff Curran has seen and done it all.
Beginning his career as a glorified lightweight, Curran made trips to the UFC against Matt Serra before making his inception in the WEC some years later, heralded as one of the best fighters in the featherweight division.
With victories over the likes of Antonio Carvalho, Wagnney Fabiano, and Rafael Assuncao, Curran made the case for a title shot against then featherweight kingpin Urijah Faber, though he succumbed to a second-round guillotine choke.
Since the loss, Curran’s career has seen it’s ups and downs, however now Jeff may have found some stability now that he’s racked up consecutive victories in his last two outings and will now look to get back to the big leagues.
Jamie Varner also graced the card at XFO 39, where the fellow WEC and UFC veteran secured a much needed win to help get his career back on track. Curran could sympathize with Varner’s situation. In his tenure with the WEC, Curran went 1-4 in the promotion, with his last four outing all resulting in losses to the likes of Faber, Mike Brown, Joseph Benavidez, and Takeya Mizugaki–all heralded as former champions or former title challengers in their respective weight classes.
Thrown to the mercy of the WEC, the organization ultimately released Curran from his contract and he was left to fend for himself on the regional circuit before he can be considered a viable fighter.
A two-fight win streak followed, though an upset loss to Brian Goldsby under the Bellator banner set The Big Frog” back yet again, though he did not falter.
Building on a decision victory over David Love at XFO 37, Curran picked up an equally dominant victory when he took on Billy Vaughan on Friday night. His high level Jiu-Jitsu was the ultimate deciding factor, and despite Billy’s best advances, it was all too little too late when Curran was declared the winner in a clean sweep 30-27 decision win.
Now on the heels of two wins in-a-row, having won four of his last five bouts, Curran is expecting to be seen in the UFC in the near future–but MMA peeps, is he ready? Does Jeff need a signature win to head back into the big show, or does he have the credentials as is? Sound off in the comment section below.

has jeff ever had an unexciting fight? i cant wait to see him on bigger shows. lets see if he can get back into that 145 title mix!
Jeff has definitely paid his dues and deserves to fight on a bigger scale …
I don’t think so. He needs to FINISH a fight before he gets back in the majors. Not that he can’t do it; he has plenty. He just won’t last long eeking out decision victories all the time.
