Set for July 26 from San Jose and the SAP Center, the Johnson-Nogueira fight is the first bout announced. It is set to be part of the main card, but not the main event.
Johnson (17-4) made a triumphant return to the UFC when he dominated Phil Davis last month. The win improved his Octagon mark to 8-4 overall and was his seventh consecutive victory overall.
After struggling to make the welterweight limit, Johnson was released following a loss to Vitor Belfort. He roamed around a handful of promotions, and even took a heavyweight bout with former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski that he won, before signing back on.
Nogueira (21-5) has had issues staying healthy, as he last fought in early 2013 when he scored a decision over ex-UFC champ Rashad Evans. The brother of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, “Lil’ Nog” has won two straight and is 8-2 in his last 10 fights dating back to 2008.
