Dan Henderson Planning To Test Chin Of Cormier

When Dan Henderson sits down to enjoy some MMA action, he likes to watch Daniel Cormier compete.

It’s not much of a surprise that Henderson has taken a liking to Cormier, as both are former U.S. Olympic wrestlers. They each have competed in multiple weight classes and for both the UFC and Strikeforce.

Still, that mutual admiration didn’t stop Henderson from signing on the dotted line to meet Cormier in May at UFC 173.

“I was hoping to fight fight him, as I respect him,” said Henderson, during a recent interview on The MMA Hour. “He’s a wrestler and he represents the sport really well. I’m a fan of his.

“We both have the same goals and sometimes we have to compete against each other.”

Henderson is coming off a victory over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua that snapped a three-fight losing skid for the veteran. Like he did vs. Rua, “Hendo” plans to work to land his patented “H-bomb” and knock Cormier out.

“I don’t think I want to try and take him down,” he said. “I kind of want to test his chin.”

Henderson (30-11) has finished 14 of his opponents via knockout, while Cormier (14-0) owns six KO and three more submission wins.
