“The Serial Killer” Travis Lutter (9-5) announced on his MySpace blog this afternoon that his agent informed him yesterday he had been released from his UFC contract due to two consecutive losses.
Last week in Montréal Lutter was TKO’d on strikes by Fighters.com’s second-ranked middleweight “Ace” Rich Franklin (23-3).
In February 2007, Lutter tapped out amidst furious elbows launched by Fighters.com’s first-ranked middleweight “Spider” Anderson Silva (21-4).
Lutter initially weighed-in two pounds overweight for his title shot versus Silva, which he won as a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter: The Comeback. He couldn’t make the weight limit and the bout was changed to a non-title bout.

Another day at the office or the midst of a session of housekeeping for the UFC?
I can see the lose and get lost trend increasing in the near future. With a list of fight producers, some with alot of financial backing, ever increasing, the old horse UFC must stay fresh. As stated by Frank Trigg, “Theres the UFC and then HDNet has everything else”. He is referring to Mark Cubans HD channel that is continually highlighting and showcasing MMA fights from all over the country and world, and at every level from into pros to the IFL to the Majors of fighting. These are offering fast paced and hungry fighters who are willing to let it all hang out for their 15min. As this younger generation rushes the front door, the giant UFC must begin to usher the old guard out the back door. Unless of course the fighters see the writing on the wall and hop out a window first. Lutter may be a victim of this trend, or just jumping out his window.
Well of the last few to be let go from the UFC, none of them have done anything to advance the sport. Lutter is a disgrace, he does not make weight for a title fight (a slap in the face of all fight fans) and fails to prepare for all of his fights.
Then there is Kalib, he ran for 3 rounds. He has since said it was his stategy and that his opponet hits VERY hard. If you are scared, dont fight! Simple!
