UFC middleweight Cung Le isn’t a top contender by any means. Though talented, Le hasn’t been extremely active over the past few years due to his career as an actor in addition to a few injuries and being bogged down in Strikeforce. However, he has won his last two tilts including a fantastic finish of Rich Franklin and is seen as one of the top strikers in MMA.
Le’s name came up a few months ago in connection with interest from Anderson Silva before the 185-pound champion had been booked against Chris Weidman. However, Le’s appetite was whetted as he recently shared at a Q&A session with fans in attendance at the UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins.
MMAJunkie was on hand and able to capture the conversation…
“I didn’t throw my name in the hat, but Anderson Silva’s camp said I would be a worthy opponent. Of course, he’s pound-for-pound the greatest, and just to be inside the octagon with him would be an honor for me. And I think matchup-wise, my standup is pretty good, and his standup is really high-level. I think that would be a very fun fight not only for myself but for the fans.”
“I’m sure afterwards, I’d probably go to the hospital, get some stitches. But for me, maybe he kicks my ass nine out of 10 times, but that one time, you never know because it’s MMA, and anything can happen.”
