Middleweight Brian Stann is a trooper, both literally and figuratively. A highly-decorated Marine veteran, Stann has also been an incredible ambassador for the UFC by exhibiting humility and intellect on par with his physical abilities inside the Octagon.
One of the core components of his image in the organization has been that of American hero – an honor Stann most certainly deserves – based on a harrowing experience in Iraq Stann helped document on a recent episode of Ultimate Insider.
However, Stann has decided he no longer wants to talk about his past experiences with the military based on the difficulty in re-living them continuously while on a public stage.
“I never really wanted to talk about it,” said Stann in an interview with MMAJunkie. “Back in my WEC days, I was forced to do it. But I was always able to tap-dance around the answers, be very vague, bestow credit upon my Marines and not really get into specifics.”
“What defines me is being a husband and father,” he continued, insinuating his desire to move on from his image as simply a solider-turned-fighter.
