NBC Sports has reported confirmation that “Kimbo Slice” Kevin Ferguson (2-0) versus “The Colossus” James Thompson (14-8) will headline EliteXC’s 31 May network debut on CBS.
The website cites sources close to one of the fighters.
The fight has been rumored for weeks.
Thompson has a notoriously weak chin, which was exploited in his last fight by “The Grim” Brett Rogers (6-0) who KO’d “The Colossus” in two-and-a-half minutes.

Oah hell yeah!!! Maybe this one will get Kimbo some credit. He deserves it. My only hope is that the fight gets out of the first round, but with crazy-ass Thompson that might not happen. You know he’s going to just charge in there and try to get Kimbo right off the bat. Maybe he will be smart and go for a takedown so we can see some of Bas’ majic though Kimbo’s sub skills….if they exist…..
I am stoked about this fight..and on CBS…it’s a dream.
Kimbo has to someday exhibit something other than raw punching power in order to demonstrate that he is a true mixed martial artist. Will he do it in this fight against an easy target like JT? I wonder if Kimbo would be willing to intentionally attempt something other than a KO–just to prove something???
Happy,
I think you make a good point about Colossus being crazy/rushing in (not a good plan). This fight should be not only interesting but also quickly decided.
Imagine Kimbo Slice v James Thompson was your first peep at the MMA buzz that you’ve heard all about? What a colossal disaster!
My secret desire is that Thompson thrashes Kimbo back to fighting for dime bags.
